The village of Dugi Rat is situated on the Dalmatian coast right by the sea and extends between the village of Podstrana and the small town of Omiš, south of Split.
Shaped by its position midway between Split and Omiš, the village enjoys a certain popularity on account of that location alone. The coast consists for the most part of gravel and is surrounded by long-established pine trees. One district (Duće) is particularly known for its very, very fine to sandy gravel beach; Sandy Beach extends over about 4 kilometres and is ideal for families with children or for romantic beach walks. The position close to nature and the peace and quiet one can enjoy in this region without being far from the bustle of the tourist strongholds is what makes the village what it is. Both restaurants and places to buy food are located in the village.
