Insel Brac
the island of Brac - Bol
The third largest Adriatic island belongs to Croatia: on its almost 400 square kilometres Brac offers as much variety and as many impressions as hardly any other island: from the 778 m high summit of the Vidova Gora to the last spurs of the moving beach "golden horn", from Supetar to Bol, the lively island metropolises, from Sumartin to Milna, the cosy harbour towns, one finds entertainment and natural idyll, a flourishing agriculture and a modern airport, countless leisure offerings and even more relaxation, calming and nerve food, such as the island-specific sheep's cheese, wine and roast lamb, for the time after the holiday.

Getting there and location: the island of Brač

From the mainland, ferries cross to the island from several towns: from Split a boat leaves for Supetar almost every hour and is there half an hour later. Here you can bring your car along too, whereas other towns offer only passenger ferries. You get to Sumartin - with your car as well, if you wish - from Makarska. That ferry, however, only runs five times a day in the high season. Anyone who finds the boat too slow can also fly direct to Bol from Vienna, Graz, Zagreb or Augsburg. The airport is centrally located on the island and the bus system will get you to your destination quickly and safely.

Sport

Visitors like to be as sporty as the 18,000 islanders. Well-built and well-signposted cycle routes are therefore available across the entire island. Specially marked mountain-bike routes attract those who like things a little wilder. Anyone who would rather watch sport than break into a sweat themselves should not miss the Croatia Ladies Open of the women tennis players, held annually on Brač in spring. Beyond that, almost all the large hotel complexes, but also many private operators, offer diving tours and sailing courses. Simply pick out the most likeable one and don't forget the sun cream!
