Rukavac

The island's most beautiful beach, the silver beach (Croatian: Srebrena), spreads out in front of the coastal village of Rukavac and runs into the clear water of the Adriatic Sea. The village itself seems to extend along the coast in such a way that from no point does one have to walk longer than 10 minutes to reach this beach. On the other side of the village two asphalted roads connect it with the other places on the island of Vis, and in the village itself one senses, even in high season, the ease and serenity with which life is regarded here. Only at carnival time does sleepy Rukavac briefly open its eyes and see men in animal costumes who may frighten off evil spirits but can only fascinate all other onlookers.
