A beach in Pučišća

A beach in Pučišća
Brač's most famous attraction is surely the Golden Horn — the only beach in the world that constantly changes its shape. Less well known, probably, is that the island's marble clads the White House in Washington. But this island of 395 square kilometres holds more than quarries: sheep farming, arable land and, of course, leisure are celebrated here too. Taverns or sports, boat trips or excursions to the mainland — Brač is a retreat, but certainly not Robinson's lonely island.
Pučišća's byname, "harbour of castles", stresses the two great sights of the place: for one, the already deep bay on which Pučišća lies is itself split into two smaller bays, so that the sea lies heart-shaped before the town. They are called Pučiški Dolac and Stipanska Luka. For another, anyone arriving from that direction is met by an impressive backdrop of several castles and fortresses towering above the beaches and lanes in front of the quarries and woods.
