This broad stretch of beach lies beside a small beach bar and counts as one of the loveliest beaches in Slatine.

This broad stretch of beach lies beside a small beach bar. The beach consists of fine to coarse pebbles and offers a child-friendly, very shallow entry into the water. The beach is about ten metres wide here and offers ample space to lie down even for larger groups and families of friends. Here and there are trees and tall shrubs that give natural shade.
To protect swimmers, the bathing area here is marked off with floating chains. Neither motorboats nor jet skis and the like are permitted in this area. The water here is crystal clear and very well suited to snorkelling. Even though one finds many fish and underwater creatures, sea urchins are nevertheless a rarity. Bathing shoes are still advisable.
Besides changing cabins and a small toilet, the beach bar offers shade above all in the blazing midday sun, cool drinks and tasty snacks. But the sunset too can be thoroughly enjoyed alongside good cocktails and the DJ's evening sounds. The owner of the bar is very friendly and easy-going. He provides his guests with sun loungers, chairs and parasols on the beach. And for children there is of course an ice-cream chest behind the counter.
Right next to the beach bar is the "Zero" watersports hire, which offers a broad range of activities. One can book anything here from jet skis, banana rides and rubber rings or tube rides through to pedalos with a built-in water slide.
All in all a lively and cheerful stretch of beach, which because of its qualities is very happily used by families and young holidaymakers alike.
The "front garden of Trogir" is an island of 15 by 3.5 kilometres, and a good many of its houses are lived in only at weekends by well-to-do Croatians, or during the holiday season by international guests. The atmosphere is accordingly village-like, even in the parts that look like town. Those who live here all year round love the regularity with which quiet days give way to busier ones, with which the season of fishing is followed by the weeks of looking after visitors. And so Čiovo manages to receive its guests not as a disturbance but as an enrichment of the yearly cycle.
The island of Čiovo is connected to the mainland at Trogir by a bridge and is therefore quick and easy to reach. It is also ideally placed for excursions around the Split and Trogir region.
The 1,200 inhabitants of Slatine unfold a rough charm in their town. Forty people here still live exclusively from fishing, and in direct "neighbourhood" hermits isolated themselves for centuries in the hermitage at the island's tip. Anyone who wants to belong here and not merely be a short-term guest has to come up with something rather special. Perhaps that is why the place grows steadily through migration, and why a good many former holidaymakers now live here all year round.
